The Garden is Coming Along Nicely

Last weekend I gave it a much-needed weeding.   The pictures below reflect the garden post-weeding.

Here's our broccoli plants, with the grape vine in the background.   That thing's really spreading out, and it looks like we'll be getting a lot of grapes.

And here are our tomato plants - one cherry tomato, one grape tomato - and our completely out-of-control raspberry patch.   Some of the raspberries are starting to show a bit of red now, so it won't be long before we've got a lot of fresh raspberries.  I've already got plans for those.

  1. I'm jealous! Someone mowed off my raspberry bushes this year. He will remain nameless. I only have two small ones growing now. Not that 4 was a lot, but I was hoping they would get to spread.

  2. We're sorry to hear about your raspberry bushes, and we wish you well with the twwo you have now. We will probably need to cut ours back in the fall, because they are spreading like wildfire.

  3. Our raspberries are coming along well, but they are not red yet. However our strawberry crop was taken by squirrels... It's our first year trying to grow strawberries and I didn't even think of protecting it because we never have problems with our raspberry patch and critters. We have not tried growing grapes yet. Maybe next year.

  4. Hi Julie! If you want grapes next year, take a few minutes to plant the vine this summer. Otherwise you'll have a long wait for the fruit. At least, that's been our experience with our grape vine- no grapes year one, loaded with grapes year two!

Naughty squirrels, to steal your strawberries!
