For some reason, they weren't over the top good (to me or my husband - I think it's a thing I have with jam in desserts), but my friend raved about them and thought they were in my "top 5 ever" desserts. Seeing the expression on her face when she bit into one of these bars was awesome! There are some really talented home bakers that submit christmas cookie contest recipes and I've enjoyed making so many of them from my Cook's Country magazines! I actually made them side by side with the recipe from The America's Test Kitchen Family Cookbook, which didn't have any of the changes that Sarah makes in this recipe, and I really preferred these ones. *I should clarify that I didn't make your changes with the ginger; I made the original recipe from Cook's Country magazine. CC and ATK's versions were both great, but these from Cook's Country were the clear winner for me. It looks like the 1/2 cup of honey is the correct amount, the 1/3 cup must have been a typo. Thanks for calling this to our attention!

Your instincts about adding a bit of milk were good, too. I would also caution you about adding the hot butter directly to the mixture. Unless you're a *very* diligent stirrer, you may end up with scrambled egg! The link you give now is a blank page. One discrepancy in your recipe: you call for 1/3 cup + 2 tbsps honey (for brushing) in your ingredient list, but add 1/2 cup honey in your instructions to the yogurt mixture. Which is correct, 1/3 or 1/2? I went with the 1/3 and found the batter particularly dry; there would be no way to "pour" it. So I added a little extra milk and still had to scrape and push it into the skillet. Your own photo shows a rather thick batter, so am hoping this will be OK.artluvrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09229645178982491109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2044938685467031009.post-64270236363708357022013-04-07T11:04:06.689-05:002013-04-07T11:04:06.689-05:00I tried this recipe yesterday and didn't have ...I tried this recipe yesterday and didn't have much luck. Once open, the contents are much more likely to mold when left unrefrigerated, because the vacuum seal is broken when you open up the jar.

Sometimes labels from different countries aren't translated very well into English, and I'm guessing that's why the jar's label wasn't as complete as you might have expected.

Hope that helps!

JuliJeffrey and Julihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01816868443994332559noreply@blogger.com
